Centrally Situated...

The Fife Arms Hotel is situated some 35 miles north of Aberdeen and lies within easy travelling distance of Banff & Macduff on the north east coast. Walks on sandy beaches, golf, fishing, visits to heritage centers such as Duff House, the aquarium and sea cruises just some twenty minutes away from the hotel its self. Inland, and only a few miles away to the north lies Huntly and Huntly Castle. North and to the west - the whisky trail and Inverness. Centrally situated, of course it is...away from the bustle and home again for tea!

Good food & friendly atmosphere...

As soon as you book in for the night or come in for a meal, most likely you'll be met with "fit like the day" from the locals at the bar. In "the Doric" - the language native to the North East - it means "how are you" to which you can reply (if you're up for it)

"Chaving" - 'n fit like yer sel! (Struggling on - and how about you?)

Within minutes if you want to you can be part of the "bar scene", quietly sip a beer and reflect in your thoughts, tend to your family or attend to your personal business. The "Fife" is a family run business with good family values, good food, friendly atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. And you can't ask for better than that...

Lay your head upon my pillow...

The rooms at "The Fife Hotel" cry out to be slept in. Lovingly so, every extra has been added to the rooms to make your stay "a home from home experience". All rooms benefit from en suite, the usual tea and coffee making facilities and Freeview TV. Situated well away from the bar area, you're guaranteed a good night's sleep.

About your hosts

Graham & Jennifer Squair took over The Fife Hotel in November 2004. Graham is ex army (24 years Queens own Highlanders and has a regimental attitude to "getting it right".

The "Fife" is "on parade" 24/7 - 365 days a year.

During Graham's years in the services Jennifer honed her catering and management skills running the catering unit for the Seaforth Club in Nairn, The Garrison Restaurant in Fort George and latterly the Pantry in Nairn before moving to Aberchirder. The wealth of experience gleaned from running highly successful businesses is borne out by her value for money attitude and determination to provide customers with service that's second to none.

Since opening, the guest book carries entries such as "excellent value for money", "fantastic down to earth menu. Excellent - can't be faulted" to "we'll be back". The guest book at "The Fife" says it all.

Built in the 18th century the Fife Arms Hotel, Aberchirder is reputed to be the oldest hostelry in town. Sited on the main street adjacent to the square, this centrally situated hotel caters for the discerning tourist intent in getting away from it all and locally, and without doubt, provides a lively and entertaining meeting place for quality ales and excellent food.

Although now modernised, it's easy to imagine what it must have been like all these years ago! How the foot soldiers and their commanders on horseback rested as they returned from the skirmishes in the lowlands.

How the history of the town came together...how many descendants of the clans still reside there...

So whether you are a tourist, are in the area on business, or live locally, rest assured that a warm and interesting welcome awaits you when you visit "The Fife Arms Hotel"
